Distance Learning Forum: Massive Open Online Courses – The Implications for UTech

Hello and welcome to the UTech Office of Distance Learning Blog!

We are embarking on a concentrated drive to build awareness about the UTech Distance Learning thrust and to engage with the University community.   Basically, we want to share with you the advances we have made since the first online module was created back in 2007.  Since then, over 700 modules were created for online delivery!

This blog will be a space for you to interact with us and to get the latest news and tips about distance learning.

The first event under this initiative is scheduled for this Thursday, March 6 from 3:00 – 5:00 pm in the form of a panel discussion on the topic:

“The MOOC Imperative: Implications for UTech and Jamaica”

MOOC is an acronym for Massive Open Online Course – which is a model for delivering learning content online to any person who wants to take a course, with no limit on attendance (click here for more information).
